One Fish...Two fish

Many of you are aware that Houston died last week. However, many of you are not aware of our own pet death. Our kids have wanted a pet for awhile. A couple of months ago Dave took the kids to the pet shop and they bought a blue Beta fish. The kids were so excited to get a fish and they named him King Blue. I took on the job of feeding King Blue and Dave took on the task of cleaning his bowl. I did my job faithfully but I don't know how often the water was changed. When the fish died the kids were in bed for the night and Dave flushed it down the toilet. He said he wasn't going to say anything.

The next day went as usual. Landon and Emma did not notice that the fish was no longer there and neither Dave or I said anything. The next day after that Dave asked Landon and Emma "Where's the fish?" Both of them responded "I don't know." Then Dave told them that the fish had died and so he flushed it down the toilet. Landon and Emma both responded "Oh." They didn't really seem that disappointed. But they did ask if we could get another fish. Maybe we will in a little bit and see how it goes a second time around. As for now I am content without having to worry about feeding and taking care of a pet. I also think it would be fun to get something a little more interactive.

That is too bad. I think you should get another fish and have the kids be more involved in feeding it and cleaning the bowl. Have it be apart of their new job charts.

That was pretty funny. I love how kids are all geared up to get a pet and then 2 days later the excitement is all worn off and mom and dad get to take care of the pet.

We too got a new fish, however it only lasted a day or so and then it died. Poor Treyton was so sad and blamed it on me because he said I fed it too much and that I didn't change the water enough! However, he was happy when he got to flush him down the toilet because, "all drains lead to the ocean!!!"

I'm sorry about your loss...but apparently your kids aren't. Oh well...I am sure you will see many a fish take the deep flush as they get older.

That's funny that it didn't really phase them. So sad. Poor fishy!

I would not get something more interactive just yet, dogs and cats need more attention and training and are harder to flush down the toilet....

Oh poor fish...hehe...I have thought of getting one, but I think that Austin is still a little too young. I charge $15 for adults and $10 for children (depends on the age). It was good to see you guys on Monday!
