Landon Turns 9

I figured that I should blog about Landon's birthday before it came time to blog about Reagan's birthday. This year Landon got to have a party with his friends. This party was on a Saturday and was the day before his birthday. We decided to do an Art party since Landon is a good artist. He loves to draw pictures. Anyway, for his party he suggested making sock puppets. That sounded like a really fun idea. And it was really easy. I just bought a couple packages of sock, some yarn, felt, and pom poms. We made the hair and the kids did everything else. They were pretty cool.

For his friend party we also ate a lunch of Little Ceasars Pizza. We ordered 2 pizzas and probably could have ordered 3 pizzas. Those growing boys sure do eat a lot!! Landon opened his presents and then they played outside for a little bit. After they were done playing they were ready for cupcakes and ice cream. Then the party was over and it was clean up time.

The following Monday (the day after his birthday), we had a family party. For this party we served dinner and had one of Landon's favorite foods Hawaiian Haystacks. After dinner we once again made sock puppets.

After the kids made their sock puppets it was time to for Landon to open his presents. He got some good things, a lot of new clothes.

For dessert we had another of Landon's favorite foods--Cheesecake!! Instead of a big cheesecake I made little mini cheesecakes with a recipe found in Our Best Bites cookbook. They were delicious!!

It was a fun couple of parties and in a couple of weeks I get to do it again with Reagan. At least after that I will have a 6 month break until I have to plan the next party.

Payson's 2nd Birthday

This blog post should have been written a few weeks ago. I am a little behind. My son Payson, my baby, turned 2 years old on June 23rd. I can't believe he is 2 already! Time sure does fly fast! For his party we did a monster theme. You can see the invitations that I made for his party at my other blog. The party started out with all the kids making there own monster masks. We used plastic plates and craft foam to make the masks. The kids really enjoyed making the masks.

For dinner everyone made their own monster pizzas. We used English Muffins and then had toppings of pepperoni, pineapple, canadian bacon, and olives. The kids especially had fun making their own monster pizzas and every kid except for the two youngest ate the whole thing.

After dinner it was time to open presents. Payson got some much needed clothes. He also got some new toys.

For dessert we had monster cake pops and monster cupcakes. My mom and my kids decorated the cupcakes while I went to take Payson to get a much needed hair cut just in time for his party. Funny story about that. We got to the salon and walked in. I told the stylist that we were there to get his hair cut. We started walking back to the chair and when Payson realized what was happening he turned around and started walking toward the door. I had to go and get him and carry him back. The whole time he was crying and twisting and swatting her hand away. I don't know how the stylist can cut hair with a kid moving around that much and have the hair cut look good. I have a new respect for them. Anyway, here are the cupcakes. I think they turned out great!

The party was pretty low key. My parents left the next day to visit my brother and sister-in-law in Missouri. It was a fun party and I think that people enjoyed it.

Emma's 7th Birthday

My daughter Emma turned 7 years old on April 2nd. Every year I have to decide when to have her party because her birthday usually falls on General Conference weekend. This year I decided to have her birthday party the weekend after. That is a long wait for a 7 year old so we had a cupcake decorating party with the cousins on her birthday during the priesthood session. I set up a decorating station by putting different sprinkles in cupcakes liners placed in a tin. I also filled pastry bags with frosting. The kids all had fun decorating their cupcakes and Trent had a little too much fun when the adults weren't watching anymore. The following weekend we had two different parties for Emma. The first one was on Friday afternoon and was with her friends from school. She invited nine girls from her class and then one of her friends from the neighborhood. It was crazy!! One of the girls mom's stayed and helped out. It was nice to have another adult. For this party the girls colored cupcakes on shrinky dinks, played pin the candle on the cupcake, and decorated their own cupcakes. I was very bad at taking pictures at this party! Here are a couple though.Her final party was on Saturday Afternoon. This was the family party. We went with the cupcake them. We started out the party by having the kids color shrinky dinks. Then they also got to decorate aprons and chef hats.For dinner we had Papa John's Pizza and tossed salad. It was good. After dinner the kids played Pin the Candle on the Cupcake and then Emma opened some presents. She got some good things including some DS games, clothes, and some toys.After presents it was time for cake and ice cream. I made a giant cupcake cake and also some cupcake cake pops. Dave had so much fun helping me with the cake pops that it is now his dream to open a bakery. In reality, I thought for sure he was going to overturn the table and cupcake pops were going to go flying everywhere. Notice that Emma changed her clothes in between opening her presents and eating cake. She wanted to wear some of her new clothes.Here are some other pictures of decorations. Reagan's 4th Birthday

I have been quite the slacker when it comes to blogging lately. Here it is almost April and time to start another round of birthday parties and I have not yet blogged about Reagan's 4th birthday yet. What's even worse is that I didn't blog at all about her 3rd birthday. I guess she suffers from MCS (Middle Child Syndrome). Reagan's party was pretty low key. We just had cupcakes and ice cream and she opened her presents. She wanted a Dora Party so I attempted to make these cupcakes that I found on www.nickjr.com. I can't figure out how to post in on here. Anyway, they didn't quite turn out how I expected but they were still good.
Reagan was excited to open her presents and she got some good stuff including a Rapunzel barbie, Clothes, princess shoes, and many other things. Hopefully when she turns 5 I won't be this bad at blogging about it!!

Landon's Special Day!

Saturday August 7th was a special day for Landon X 2. First, it was his birthday and he turned 8 years old. Second, he was baptized. He was so excited that he got to get baptized on his birthday. His baptism was at 9:00 a.m. They had a short program with a couple of talks and then they dismissed individual wards to go to the baptismal font. Dave was able to baptize Landon and confirm him. It was a special experience seeing my oldest son baptized.After the baptism we had some light refreshments at the playground behind our house. Landon also opened his gifts for his baptism. We bought him some scriptures. He also got a book, a scripture case, some ties, some scripture stickers, and a baptism coloring book.After the baptism I had to go and get things ready for his birthday party that night. I bought food and balloons. Then went home wrapped presents and finished the goodie bags. Then we went to my mom's house to set things up and get the food ready. The theme for Landon's party was SpongeBob Squarepants. For dinner we had Krabby Patties A.K.A Hamburgers. Everyone got to build their own with a variety of toppings including bacon. I thought of a couple other ideas later that would have been good to include.

After dinner we played a game. The kids were divided into 2 teams. At each end were buckets, one with water and one without. The kids had to dip a sponge into the bucket of water and then run to the other in and squeeze the water out into the other bucket. They had a lot of fun but I think it was a little confusing. Some of the kids were squeezing the water into the other teams bucket.Then we played hot potato. My mom bought it at the store. It is a little stuffed potato and when you squeeze it it makes music. When the music stops whoever is holding it is out. They had fun with it but we made it so no one was outwhen the music stopped.After that Landon opened his presents. Once again he got some good stuff. He got clothes, games, a hooded bath towel, a Nintendo DS and some games.

After the opening of the presents we had cheesecake for dessert and then the party was pretty much over. Landon passed out the goodie bags to those who came. I am so proud of Landon. He is such a good kid! His birthday was a busy but fun day!!

Back to School

About 2 weeks ago Landon and Emma went back to School. Landon started 3rd grade on July 26th and Emma started 1st grade on July 27th. It sure is different having 2 kids gone for the majority of the day but I am getting somewhat used to it. I drove Landon to school on his first day while my mom came over to be with the other kids. He hadn't met his teacher yet because he was in Missouri with grandmom and grandpa when they had Back to School night. Here he is on his first day.The next day my mom came over again and this time I took both Emma and Landon to school on Emma's first day. Here she is.And here's to a GREAT school Year!!

The BIG 1!!!

Last Wednesday June 23rd my baby Payson turned 1 years old. I can't believe that it has been a whole year already. To celebrate we had his party last Friday. We went with the monkey theme. First I did the invitations. The idea was totally my own but I did use a card layout. I think they turned out really cute.We started the party off by having dinner which consisted of Spaghetti with homemade sauce, tossed salad, and sourdough bread. It was really good. After that we let Payson open his presents. He got some good stuff, mostly clothes. He wasn't really interested in opening the presents though and he kept crawling away. Landon, Emma, and Reagan helped him out though. I love this picture that I took of Payson and his cousin Trent. Trent was trying to give Payson a kiss and I love the look on Payson's face.After Payson opened his presents it was cake time. We stripped him down to his diaper, brought the high chair down to the family room and set it on a sheet we laid down. It was fun watching Payson. He would dig into the cake and eat and then look over and see me. When he saw me he would hold his arms out and start whimpering a little. I made this monkey cake for him. I found it on Martha Stewarts website. Mine doesn't look as good as hers did, but oh well. It was my first one and even though it has crooked ears I think that gives it character.

I made these cupcakes for everyone else. The idea for these came from here.
I saw this several months ago and knew that I wanted to make them for Payson's birthday and that is probably how the monkey theme came to be.For Party favors I made bean bags and then printed off the bean bag games from here.
I also made mini milk cartons with my Sizzix Big Shot and filled them with skittles.It was a fun party and I can't believe Payson is the BIG 1!!!

Emma Turns 6!!

A few weeks ago Emma turned 6 years old. Right now she really likes Hannah Montana and so we decided to do a Rock Star Party. I was pretty excited to do this party and I came up with a lot of fun ideas. First of all I found a cute card to copy for the invitations. I changed the color scheme of the original card and this is what I came up with. I love these quilted cards even if they are a lot of work.The party was held at Grandmom and Grandpa Lifferth's house. For dinner we had Pizza from Papa John's and Salad. Papa John's was having a special and large pizza's were just $10. After dinner we played a game of Freeze dance. I made CD's for each family with different songs that kids might like from Hannah Montana, The Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, etc. The kids seemed to have fun with the Freeze dancing but I don't think that they really understood the concept. They were just dancing around. My sister Mindy designed the CD cover and I love how it turned out!After playing freeze dance we made our own backstage passes. I found a music foam kit at the store and we used that to make them. The kids had fun designing them. Then it was time for Emma to open her presents. She got a lot of fun stuff. Some of her favorite presents included a scooter, a scrapbook kit, a homemade hooded bath towel, and of course the clothes!!For the party favors I saw this cute bag on a blog so of course I had to copy it. I did change the paper and some other stuff. In the bag it had pop rocks, bubbles in a guitar container, fun dip, a guitar necklace. They also got the CD. I don't know if you can tell in the picture but the bag is sparkly. I made my own shimmer spray by mixing some rubbing alcohol and shimmer paint together in a little spray bottle and then just spritzed it on. I love the effect that it gives.

Emma's party was fun and it was a fun one to plan. I think that she really enjoyed it. And she got to use last years Halloween costume again!

Reunited

A couple of months ago Reagan's Doggie went missing. Reagan's Doggie is a lot like Landon's neigh and is literally her best friend. She has conversations with him and snuggles with him. At first it didn't really seem to bother her. But more and more lately she has told me that she missed Doggie. When I would ask if she knew where he was she would just reply with "I don't know."

Last night I woke up in the middle of the night to feed Payson. When I woke up I knocked my glasses of the night stand. This morning when I woke up and I was looking for my glasses I lifted up my bed skirt to look under the bed and I saw Doggie. He was sitting on top of one of the storage containers under our bed. I don't know why I haven't seen him before. When I woke Reagan up I had Doggie behind my back and I told Reagan that I had a surprise for her. When I pulled out Doggie Reagan had a big smile on her face. She has not let go of Doggie all day today. It is fun seeing her having her conversations with Doggie again.I will post about Emma's birthday later. Her pictures are on another camera and I need to get them.

A Hodge Podge of Stuff

I realize that it has been awhile since I have posted and I am really going to try to do better this year. I am going to spare you all the happenings from August-December 2009 and just start fresh this year. I believe that I posted pictures on facebook of Reagan's 3rd Birthday. We did a Build-A-Bear theme and it was really fun.

Payson is now 6 months old, well almost 7 months old. When we took him to his 6 month appointment he weighed 18 lbs (70%) was 26 1/2 inches (50%) and his head was 44 cm (55%). These stats could all be different now. He is a big baby but very cute!!

For New Years Day we had our Black Eyed Peas for good luck throughout the year. I have eaten these every year for as long as I can remember. I don't really care for them but this year they were pretty good. I found a recipe online for Confetti Black Eyed Pea Salad and decided to try it out. Here is the recipe:

1/3 C. Olive Oil

2 1/2 T. Cider Vinegar

1 T. Spicy Brown Mustard

2 t. Honey

2 t. finely grated Yellow Onion

1/2 t. each Salt and Ground Pepper

2 cans (15 ounce) black eyed peas drained and rinsed

1 Yellow bell Pepper, finely diced

1 large tomato, seeded, diced

4 Ribs celery, thinly sliced

2 carrots, peeled, finely diced

2 T. chopped parsley

Whisk oil, vinegar, mustard, onion, salt, pepper, and honey in a bowl. Add peas, bell pepper, tomato, celery, carrots, and parsley. Stir to combine. Cover and refrigerate up to 24 hours before serving. Here is my finished product:

I really needed a place to put my necklaces. They were in a shoebox which was working ok, but they kept getting tangled up with each other. Just not working the greatest. Dave saw a picture in a magazine of a way I could organize my necklaces and showed it to me. I loved it and it was fairly cheep. We just bought a rake, took off the handle and spray painted it black. Now it hangs in my closet and I have a cool necklace holder for all my necklaces and they don't get tangled up anymore. I really wanted to do the picture a day thing this year, but I haven't been able to buy the kit and I haven't taken pictures every day either, but here are a couple. For Christmas Jake and Carla gave Payson these cute red Converse sneakers. They don't fit him yet, but I can't wait until they do. Two of Mindy's girls had Emma and Reagan for Christmas and she sewed them these cute skirts. I found the shirts at Target. Well that is about it for now, but I will try to be better. Landon's Birthday and Pirate Party

Landon's birthday was on August 7th. Since his birthday party wasn't until the next day as a family we had a little celebration for him. We went to Wendy's and got dinner and also rented "The Tale of Desperoux from the Redbox. We came home and set out a blanket in the living room and watched the movie and ate dinner. It was fun and low key. Landon also opened his presents from us. We gave him a V-tech Digital Camera and a "Phineas and Ferb" DVD.

The next day we had his birthday party. He chose a Pirate theme this year and I ordered 2 party kits from Stampin' Up! They came with invitations, banner, food toppers, pirate eye patches and treasure chests. It made party prep really easy. We started out the party by letting the kids swim for a little bit. Then we ate dinner. We had Submarine sandwiches, potato salad, chips, and fruit. After dinner we had a craft. The kids all made Pirate hats and eye patches. The eye patches came from the party kit and the Pirate hats came from a pattern that my mom has at her school. The kids all had fun making them.

After the craft Landon opened his presents. We of course set out the tape line that the other kids couldn't cross. I can't say that it works perfectly, but it is a lot better than it used to be! Landon got some really good gifts. Like all boys he doesn't care much for the clothes that he open, but he did get some cowboy boots and he loves those!!

After he opened presents we went on a treasure hunt. I had made up some clues and we hid them in the backyard at different places. The clues were typed up on paper, the edges were burned to look like pirate maps and rolled up and tied with string. The kids had fun listening to the clues and then running to the correct place to find the next clues. These are the clues I had:

I can roast hot dogs and marshmellows here (firepit)
I'm the shape of a rainbow but a little more bumpy (arch Jamie made)
I go here to look through the looking glass (telescope on the playset)
I'm pretty and I bloom in the Summer and Spring (Flower Bed)
When I am thirsty I can get a drink here (drinking fountain)
Landon's grandpa grows tomatoes here (garden)
You walk through me to get from the front yard to the back yard (gate)
I'm round and shaped like a ball--but don't try to bounce me! (fountain by the fire pit)
Here you can send or receive mail if you are playing house (play house)
Here I can build castles in the sand and X marks the spot where I can dig (sand box)

At the sandbox the kids had to dig to find the treasure. They each got their own individual treasure box that was filled with chocolate coins. The party ended with cupcakes. I think that everyone had a fun time!!

Finally.....An Update!!

I was told by a friend of mine that I needed to update my blog and she is right. I know that I need to, but things have been really busy lately. Now life is slowing down a little and I can finally update. I spent a lot of time the last 2 weeks making Payson's birth announcements and I finally finished them earlier this week. What an accomlishment. But I think I am getting ahead of myself.

Payson David Lund was born on June 23rd. He is the 4th and last. That in itself has made life more hectic. I am so glad that he has joined our family. He is such a sweet and good baby! I went into the hospital at 8:30 and it was probably around 10:00 or so that I recieved the epidural. I had to get it twice because the first time the doctor hit a blood vessell. That was the biggest shock of my life! Payson was born at 3:21 p.m. and was 8 lbs. 9 oz. and 20 inches long. During labor I also had low blood pressure and they had to get it back up before increasing the pitocin. It was making me sick and nauseous. They also had to use the vaccuum to get him out because his head kept turning sideways. He is such a joy to have around
The Sunday before he was born we were at my mom and dad's house. Reagan was climbing up on the piano bench and slipped and hit her chin on the edge. It started to bleed. Dave was at his parent's visiting his mom so I called and told him that Reagan might need stitches. We took Reagan to the InstaCare and she ended up getting 2 stitches in her chin. She was so brave the whole time. She didn't even cry but she did whimper a little bit. She is usually pretty talkative, but she wouldn't answer any questions the doctor asked. As soon as we left thought she was talking lots!The last thing that has happened is that Emma has started Kindergarten. I now have 2 kids in school even if one of them is only in school for 1/2 day. Her teacher is Mrs. Black and Emma really seems to like her. It has gotten awfully quiet here in the mornings with 2 kids off at school. On Emma's first day of school I took her and they had a little activity that they did with a parent the first 20 minutes. Emma took the bus home and I think she really enjoys riding the bus. She is really enjoying Kindergarten also!

My New Wheels

Due to the fact that we are 4 weeks away from having child #4, it became a necessity to get another vehicle. If we didn't get another vehicle as Dave put it he would be riding in the trunk of the car and Landon would be driving. Since that wasn't really a possibility we went with the better option and got a new car. Actually it is a 2006 Mazda 5, but it is nice!! It is nice to have 2 cars in our family again. The last time we had 2 cars was when Emma was born. We sold our Saturn the day after I brought her home from the hospital. That was 5 years ago. The only time we have had a 2ND car since then or I have had a car during the day is when Dave had a work truck or when he was working out of town. The freedom of knowing I have transportation if I need it is very nice!! Anyway, without further Ado, here is the new car!!

Neigh

Many people have an item that is very special to them. It may be a blanket they have had since they were little or a special toy. For Landon it is a stuffed animal horse named Neigh. Landon recieved this horse on they day he was born from his Aunt Mindy and it has become a very cherised and well loved possession. As you can tell he is very well loved. Compare this to the other stuffed animal he recieved also from Aunt Mindy on the day he was born. This one is a frog.

Neigh and Landon have been through a lot together. When we lived in our old ward he always took Neigh with him to nursery. The nursery workers felt very priviledged when Landon would let them hold Neigh. Neigh has also been lost a few times, once for about 2 weeks and he always manages to find his way back to Landon. He was found in my parent's couch cushion. I think that this stuffed horse has way more than 9 lives!!

Recently while Dave and I were helping Landon clean his bedroom Dave told Landon he could choose 3 stuffed animals to keep on his bed and the rest had to go in Emma and Reagan's Closet. If we let Landon he would be sleeping with 10-15 stuffed animals every night. I left for a little bit and Dave later showed me that Neigh was one of the stuffed animals that ended up in Emma and Reagan's closet. I was shocked!! I thought that maybe Landon was outgrowing Neigh. However, Neigh has once again resurfaced and made his way back to Landon. Landon is once again sleeping with Neigh. Maybe someday Landon will outgrow it, but I am not holding my breath!

Mother's Day

First of all I want to say Happy Mother's Day to all of the mother's out there! Today my mom and dad spoke in there ward so we went to hear them speak. On the back of the program was a list and I thought it was cute and so I have to share it with you.

What Mom's REALLY want for Mother's Day...

To be able to eat a whole candy bar by herself, and drink a glass of Diet Coke without any "floaties."
To have my 14-year-old answer a question without rolling her eyes in that "Why is this person my mother?" way
Five pounds of chocolate that won't add twenty.
A shower, without a child peeking through the curtain with a "Hi'ya, Mom" just as I put razor to my ankle.
A full-time cleaning person, who looks like Brad Pitt.
For my teenager to announce, "Hey, Mom! I got a full time scholarship and a job all in the same day!"
A grocery store that doesn't have candy, gum, or cheap toys displayed at the checkout line.
To have a family meal without a discussion about bodily secretions.
Four words: Fisher Price Play Prison!!!

Hope all the mom's out there have a fantastic Mother's day. I know I will!!

Emma's Birthday

Emma's Birthday was on April 2nd and she turned 5 years old! I can't believe that next year I will have 2 kids in school. When Dave got home from work on Emma's birthday we went out to dinner at Chic-fil-A and then we went to the movies and saw Monster's VS. Aliens. What a great movie. We did not see it in 3D, but I kind of wish we had. It was a great movie anyway and if you haven't seen it go! It's worth it!!!

On Friday we had Emma's Birthday party. The theme for this party was "Littlest Pet Shop." It was a lot of fun even though funds were kind of tight. For dinner we had Papa Murphy's Pizza. Then we had a little game for the kids. I went to the dollar store and bought a bunch of little stuffed animals. Jamie helped me make up adoption certificates and I numbered all the little animals. I also put numbers in a bowl and the kids drew a number and that was the pet they got to adopt. They named their pets and as the pet shop owner I signed all the certificates. It was fun hearing some of the names that the kids came up with for their pets.

After the pet adoptions Emma opened her presents and she did well. Thanks everyone.

A tape line was put on the floor that the kids could not cross. If they did they wouldn't get cake and ice cream. It worked really well. It also makes it possible for the adults to see the presents because the kids aren't all crowded around. Plus the other kids have a tendency to "help" open the presents.

Then it was time for cake and ice cream. Emma was a little bit shy about blowing out the candles on her cake so Daddy helped her blow them out.

All in All it was a fun party despite me not feeling very well and being very tired. Happy Birthday Emma! We Love You!!!!

A Happy Ending

A couple of weeks ago we went to Ruby's Inn by Bryce Canyon for an Annual Lifferth Retreat. It was a lot of fun and I really wish that I had some pictures, but as usual I forgot my camera. One of the things that we did while we were there was play a baseball game. I did not play, but I did go to watch. The game was played at a baseball field near the high school in Tropic. At the game they had a little zig-zag walkway. Reagan had a lot of fun walking up and down that walkway during the game. I was a little ways away at the dugout but she was always in my line of vision and I was watching her. However, when the game ended I could not see Reagan anywhere. I saw Landon and I saw Emma but Reagan was nowhere to be found. I asked Dave if he had seen Reagan and he hadn't. At the place we were at there was a long parking lot with a dumpster at the end then it went into canyon area. I was starting to get worried. I called Reagan's name and thought to myself "Please let me find Reagan." Shortly after my Brother-in-Law Marty spotted Reagan in her pink coat. She had gone up into the canyon area. Dave ran over to get her but when he first got there he didn't see her anywhere because the shrubs were taller than Reagan. He did find her and my dad drove his car over to pick them up. I was so happy to see Reagan again! I gave her a big hug. When we asked what she was doing she just shrugged her shoulders. Boy!!! Today I had my Ultrasound and we found out that we are having a boy! I am so excited! I really wanted a boy so that our family would be even. Everything looks good with the baby. Here is the proof!

A Little Catch Up

I have been so bad at blogging lately. I really need to get better. For those of you who don't know I am pregnant. I am due on June 25th and I will be having my Ultrasound on February 2nd to find out what we are having. Every December we take the kids to The Quilted Bear to see the reindeer. They only have 2 of the reindeer there and "Santa" told us that he brought Vixen and Prancer. The kids all loved to see the reindeer and I also think it is a lot of fun.

Christmas was good and it was nice having Dave in town during the month of December. Now he is working out of town again and I am hoping that he will be local again soon. We sure miss him.

Next Monday I will be putting a poll up on my blog to give all of you to vote on whether I am having a boy or girl, so be thinking about it. I will keep you updated on that after my Ultrasound. I promise to try to be a better blogger!!!

A Scary Experience

Yesterday I was driving home on I-15 from a Doctor's Appointment. Between the 106th and the 123rd S. freeway exit I felt the car jar and I knew something was wrong. I pulled over to the shoulder thinking I just had a flat tire. I got out of the car and looked at it and found that it wasn't a flat, it was a blowout. The tire was shredded. I had no idea what to do. I got back into my car and and sat there for about 5 minutes or so hoping someone would pull over to help me. No one did. I called my dad at work but he had to leave soon to go and teach a class. He suggested that I call Jamie and have Jamie call Brian so that Brian could come and help me out. He said that Brian could leave work whenever and help me. I called Jamie and then she called Brian. When Jamie called me back she said that Brian would be there in about 10 minutes. I also called Mindy who was watching Emma and Reagan and let her know what had happened. She had to work last night and I wanted her to know that I should be there to pick them up with plenty of time to get to work. Brian came and changed the tire for me. While he was changing the tire an Incident Management truck came by and helped him out.

In no time they had the spare tire put on and I was on my way. Brian had me pull over in a parking lot and tightened the lugnuts a little bit more. Then I went and picked up Emma and Reagan and then Landon. This morning I went and bought 2 new tires for the car. Now everything is back to normal. Here is a picture of the tire.

All About Emma

Name & Meaning: Emma Hayden Lund. The Emma is kind of a take off on Emily. Emma is also the name of my Great Grandma on my mom's side. I was looking through a Parents or Parenting Magazine and I read an article and it mentions the author's daughter Hayden. I had never really thought of Hayden as a girl's name before but I really liked it.

Age: 4 1/2. She will be 5 in April

Nicknames: One Sunday some people started calling her Emma Lima Ding Dong. Then we figured that wasn't really very nice so now we call her Emma Lima Sing Song. We figure that is a lot nicer.

Favorite Activities: When I asked Emma this question she said "making houses out of paper" anyway what she means is there is a story about a witch who is building a house and you rip the paper and it turns into a Jack-o-Lantern. Name & Meaning: Reagan Marie Lund. Reagan kind of comes from Reagan off of Good Things Utah, but mostly because I just like the name. Marie is my Middle Name.

A couple of weeks ago I was cleaning Landon's bedroom and I came across a little book. It was made by him and was not something he did at school. It was just something that he did on his own. I read it and I thought it was really cute and knew right then that it was something that I was going to be blogging. So here is the story. I will show the pictures and then translate. I think I know what they all say except for one of them. Anyway here it goes!!!

Title Page Translation: The Mermaid. Pretty self-explanatory.

Translation: "Mermaids like to Splash"

Translation: This is the one I am not too sure of. I think it says something about "Mermaids like to something in the water." If anyone has any ideas let me know. I just asked Landon what it said and he said: "Mermaids like to Jump out of the water."

Translation: "Mermaids like to swim."

Translation: "Mermaids like to fall in love."

Translation: "Mermaids like to Sleep."

Translation: "Mermaids like to Kiss."

Translation: "Mermaids like to get Married."

Maybe he will be a great Children's book Author and Illustrator someday!!!

Reagan's Hawaiian Luau Birthday Party

Last Friday was Reagan's 2nd Birthday. I decided that it would be fun to do a Hawaiian Luau/Flip Flop Theme. I did a lot of research on the internet and I came up with some really good ideas. First I decided to make some flip-flop invitations. I found a pattern online and printed it off to make the invitation. Here is a picture of the invite.The invitation says: "Palm Trees and Sandy Beaches are really far away, so we're bringing Hawaii to us to celebrate a 2nd Birthday! Reagan, the Island girl, invites you to surf on over for a Hula Girl Luau! It then gives all the information for the party.

In my research for party ideas I came across a website that translates your real name into your Hawaiian name. The website is http://www.alohafriendsluau.com/. It was really fun looking up everyone's Hawaiian name. Then I made name tags for everyone with their Hawaiian name. When people arrived at the party I gave them their Hawaiian nametag to wear around their neck. I've never been to Hawaii but I guess it is what getting a lei when you get off the plane is like. We started the party off by having all the little kids do a craft. For the craft we made flower leis. I punched out different colored flowers using a punch that I have and then I cut 1" pieces of straws. I off course had to use Neon colored straws so it would be bright. The kids all had a lot of fun putting together their leis.

Then it was time to eat dinner. For dinner we had Hawaiian Haystacks, Fruit salad, and Rolls. There were also cheese balls for those who wanted them. It was all really good. At Harmons I found a cute little daisy veggie/dip tray and I used that to put the toppings for the Hawaiian Haystacks in.

After dinner we tried to play a game called "Pass the Coconut." The younger kids didn't really understand how the game was played but it was still fun. I found some Hawaiian music on iTunes and downloaded it onto a disc for the game. Landon was disappointed that we didn't learn the Hula or Limbo, so we are going to do that tonight. We are also going to cut open the coconut to show the kids what is inside.

Then it was present time. Reagan was really excited to open her present. If it was a toy she would hand it to me and say "open" because she wanted it out of the box. When she opened Farfar's card and saw the money she justed dropped it on the ground. I say give her a couple years and she won't be doing that.

I love that last picture because it really shows her excitement. After presents we had cake and Ice Cream. I made the flip flop cake using a template I found online at http://www.bettycrocker.com/. It was a lot of fun to make and I think that it turned out pretty well.

One thing I forgot to mention is that a lot of the kids wore their Hawaiian clothes compliments to Uncle Jake for bringing back clothes when he went to Hawaii in May. At the end of the party I passed out the goodie bags. I ordered all the stuff for the goodie bags from Oriental Trading. The only stuff not from there were the food items. They even had flip-flop goodie bags.

A Big Announcement

My daughter Emma loves to color and she is very good at it. Give her a coloring page and some crayons and she is content for awhile. She is only 4 years old and she stays in the lines and does a really good job. Recently Granite Credit Union had a color contest. They had 3 different coloring pages and so I got one of each for Emma. She was excited. She colored them all in one day. Last friday we went to the Credit Union and Emma went with me and we turned in her coloring pages. I told her we had to put her name on the back because it would be terrible if they thought hers was the best and then couldn't find a name and phone # on it so they had to choose someone else.

Saturday I was out running a few errands and I got a call from Granite Credit Union. They told me that my daughter Emma had won the coloring contest and that I could go and pick up her prize. I went and picked it up and then took it home and showed Emma. She was so excited. These are pictures of the 3 coloring pages she did.

My favorite is the carousel. I wonder if this one was the winning picture!!!

In her little prize bag she got some bubbles, a glow necklace, and candy.

It was pretty exciting and I am really proud of my little artist!!

Happy Birthday Landon

Today was Landon's birthday and he turned 6 years old. He is a lucky boy because he got 2 birthday parties. We celebrated with family last Saturday and today when he got home from school he had a party with his friends. So first I will tell you about his party last Saturday. For the theme of his party he wanted a detective party. So I made a file folder shaped invitation that said confidential on the front. On the inside it said "Landon has selected you to be part on an elite 6th birthday spy training camp team. Your mission should you choose to accept it, isto rendezvous at the given coordinates and time and be prepared for fun!!! (RYSB) Report Your Status By. Then it had the date and all the other info. Here is a picture of the inside and outside.The first thing the kids did when they got there was a Scavenger Hunt that was made by Jamie and copied by Jake. Thanks Jamie and Jake for all your help with that. Jamie took pictures of different things in my dad's backyard and the kids had to find them. This is what it looked like. For dinner we roasted hot dogs, and had baked beans, potato salad, and chips. It was so good. Then Landon opened his presents. We told people that he needed some boy toys. And they delivered. He also got clothes and a Brag Board from Jamie that he can hang his school work on.

After presents we had a pinata for the kids instead of goody bags and ate cake.

Today's party was a little bit more low key. I told Landon he could invite 6 of his friends since he would be 6 years old. We met at the playground of the townhouses we live in. We started out by playing a couple of games. First we played Duck, Duck, Goose.

Then Simon Says. I didn't get any pictures of that game. Then he opened his presents. Once again he got some good toys. Then we had ice cream cones. One boy Xander got stung by a bee so I asked my friend Stephanie if she knew what to do and she told me to mix baking soda and water into a paste and to put it on him. So we did and I think that made him feel a littel better.

Happy Birthday to Me!!!

Today was my birthday!! I celebrated my birthday with my family last Sunday. I got the new book Breaking Dawn and I am experiencing self control because I need to read 2 other books before I can start that one. I also got tickets to go see Brian Regan on August 13, 2008. Jamie made me a cool sesonal craft like the one she made for the craft exchange at Ruby's Inn. I also got some jewelry.

Today started out with me and my mom going to be in the audience at Good Things Utah. It was so much fun. It was cool to see how things actually worked on the set. The set is a lot smaller than it looks on TV. For those of you who don't know Good Things Utah or GTU is a show that is hosted by 4 ladies. They are Nicea, Angie, Marti, and Reagan. Angie is in my ward but I hadn't ever talked to her. They do a cooking segment, craft segment, and other things. Before the show started Marti asked the audience who was celebrating a birthday and I raised my hand. At the end of the show they tell whose birthday it is in the audience and you get to wave. Also at the end we got to get our pictures taken with them and talked to them a little. I sat by Reagan and told her that I had a daughter named Reagan and she asked how old and I told her she was almost 2. They asked me what else I was doing for my birthday and I told them I was going out to lunch and to a movie with my husband. They were really nice. It was a fun experience.

When we got back my mom watched Emma and Reagan (Landon was in School) and Dave and I went and saw The Dark Knight. It was pretty intense. I thought it was good but a little too violent and I don't think it is a movie that I will see again. It was nice to spend some time with Dave though. And it was a very fun day and I really enjoyed it!!!

Children's Parade and Festival

Last Saturday our Stake was invited to take part in the Children's Parade in Downtown Salt Lake City. We had to be there at 9:00 and I thought that was when the parade started. We had to park at 250 East and then walk up to 600 East. I was pulling Landon and Emma in the wagon and Dave carried Reagan in the kid backpack. The parade didn't actually start until 10:00 and our Stake was the last group. We didn't start going until aroung 11:00. During the actual parade Dave pulled the wagon and carried Reagan. That left me free to take some pictures. We got to walk in the parade also. So here are a couple of pictures before the parade.

After the parade they had popcicles and then they had a festival. At the festival they had a bunch of bounce slides and bounce houses. The kids had a blast. They really enjoyed going down all the slides and jumping in the houses. This is a picture of them in the SpongeBob bounce house.

I guess the parade will be aired on July 24th on Channel 5 so you can look for us. The day ended with us eating at Chick-fil-A and running errands. It was a fun day!!!

Our Getaway and a Getting to Know you Again

This last weekend Dave and I were able to go on a little weekend getaway without the kids. Dave works with a plumber at Home Depot and he has a cabin in Kamas. We were able to go there for the weekend. It was so nice to get away from it all and just relax. Friday night we went into Park City. We went to Rocky Mountain Chocolate Company and got a Caramel Apple then we went to a restaurant. We looked at a menu before we sat down. When they seated us we got another menu. We then realized that we must have been looking at the lunch menu before as the prices were double. So we left and ended up going to Nacho Mama's. It was good. We also went and bought some groceries for the next day.

Saturday we hung out at the cabin all day long. I watched LOST on DVD and finished the first season. Now I am patiently waiting for season 2. That night we went to Heber and went to Dairy Keen for Dinner. On Sunday we woke up and packed up. We were going to go to church at noon and just do Sacrament Meeting but when we got to the chuch we found out that Sacrament Meeting was last and so we just came home. We did read a conference talk to get in some religion. Even though it was good to have a break from the kids it was good to see them again. We got to my parents house before they got home from church and we were there when they came home. It was a nice break! Thanks Mom and Dad for watching the kids. Also I took my camera but didn't take any pictures.

Tell us one of your most embarrasing moments: ok. So back when I was single I was going to a Singles ward. For one of our Family Home Evenings we went to Cascade Springs. I was riding in the front seat of Dave Richardson's car. My friend from Australia, Tennille was in the Back Seat and another guy was back there also. Dave was driving like a maniac. We made it up to the springs and we walked around. On the way back down, he didn't do much better. We had to pull over a couple of times so I could throw up. However, the third time I did not make it out of his car and I threw up. It was so embarrassing.

Today I attended Landon's Kindergarten Program. It was fun but also a little bittersweet. It seems like just yesterday that Landon started Kindergarten and now he is 2 days away from being through. That year went by so fast and I can't believe that it is over. My mom came over to my house this morning and we drove over to Landon's school. We had good seats and when the Kindergartener's filed in Landon was on our side and on the first row. I have to tell you that Landon did not only sing but he also danced a little while singing. He was quite the character. There was one song that was a dance and it was really cute. I think that Landon did a really good job. At the end of the program they had a little slide show and we will get a copy of that for $1.00. These are some of the songs that they sang:

Then after the program I of course had to get a picture of Landon with his teacher MIss Cook! She really is an Awesome teacher. Landon really liked having her as his teacher. Also Landon had to get a picture of himself taken with this statue in the school.

T-T-A Taste

Today's Tuesday-Tell-All is all about Taste. I love the taste of many things. I am not a picky eater. The only thing that I am not a really big fan of is Seafood. However, I do have a few very favorite tastes. The first one is the taste of Chocolate. I could eat chocolate all day long. I especially love chocolate with caramel inside.

The second taste that I really love is Cheesecake. Can you say sweet tooth?

I also love the taste of anything that is cooked in the crockpot. I recently discovered a blog where the lady is posting a new crockpot recipe everyday. The link is on my sidebar under "Websites I love." It is not necessarily always food. The website is www.crockpot365.blogspot.com.

I also love the taste of my mom's homecooking. I love eating sunday dinner at her house.

Lastly I love the Olive Garden. My favorite is Chicken Parmigan. I love the salad and Breadsticks with Alfredo Sauce.

I {Heart} Technology

I have been on facebook for a few months now and most of my friends on it are people I see on a regular basis. This morning I was on it and I decided to look up a friend that I haven't seen for about 5-7 years. I don't even know the last time I saw her. She lives in Australia and her name is Tennille. I lost contact with her. I didn't even have a valid e-mail address for her anymore. I searched her on facebook and it came up with 3 possibilities. One of them looked like it might be her so I sent her a message. Later on tonight I checked my e-mail and I had an e-mail from facebook that confirmed Tennille as a friend. So I went on to facebook to view her profile. While on she got on too. She Instant messaged me and we messaged each other back and forth for about 1/2 hour-45 minutes. It was so cool!!! I couldn't believe that I was talking to someone that I hadn't talked to in years and that I found her through technology. She is now married and has 2 kids and one on the way. While it was 6:00 at night here it was 10:00 in the morning in Australia. It is sure fun to find a long lost friend. It made my day!!!

T-T-A Smells

Life has gotten busy and it has been a few weeks since I have done one of these Tuesday-Tell -Alls. This week it is about Smells. Here are a few of the smells that I love. I love the smell of Fresh Laundry.

I love the smell of Fresh Baked Bread. Sometimes I just can't help myself. If I go to the store around the time they put out the Fresh baked French Bread I just have to buy a loaf. I love eating it when it is like that!

The third smell I love is the smell of Coffee. I think it must have to do with my grandmom drinking coffee, but I love the smell. I love to walk down the isles of the grocery store where they have the fresh coffee beans in the bins and just smelling them.

I also love the smell of babies and freshly bathed kids. I love the smell of Apple Pie and the smell of good things cooking in the crockpot!

I know there are many other smells that I love, but I think that this will suffice for now. I am going to try to be better at posting.

A Fun Questionairre and My Smart Son

First of all I wanted to do this fun questionairre that I saw on a friend's blog. It had a lot of really fun questions and I thought it would be fun to do. Plus it has been awhile since I have blogged and I figured I needed to do something. So here it goes!!

2. Where was your first kiss? My first kiss with my husband was on our 5th date and it was in his driveway after dropping him of after my work Christmas Party.

3. Have you ever seriously vandalized someone else's property? Well, I was blamed for vandalism in 9th grade (see previous post) and unless toilet papering counts, then no.

4. Have you ever hit someone of the opposite sex? If you count the V-8 juice slap on the forehead then yes, I do that to my husband Dave all the time.

5. Have you ever sung in front of a large group of people? No, do you want to see a mass stampede of people fleeing the building because I am singing.

6. What is the first thing you notice about the opposite sex? Probably eyes and smile

7. What really turns you on? When my husband helps me out around the house and with the kids

8. What do you order at Starbucks? I have never been to starbucks, but I hear their caramel apple cider is really good and I want to try it

9. What is your biggest mistake? I would have to say not graduating from college

10. Have you ever hurt yourself on purpose? no

16. What is the most romantic thing someone of the opposite sex has done for you? A few years ago when we were living in West Jordan my husband made a little scavenger hunt for me. We went in his car and listened to our song and then he handed me the next clue. There were about 3 or 4 clues total. In the bedroom he had stars that he had cut out and taped to the ceiling. So that night we slept under the stars. It was fun!

Last Friday we were cleaning our house and Landon came to us with a piece of paper and said "I wrote a song." He handed me the paper and this is what I saw.

Translated it says: "O Beautiful for spacious skies for Amber waves of Grain, for Purple Mountain Majesty above the fruited plain. America America God shed his grace on thee and crowned thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea."

I was very impressed! Landon and Emma spent the rest of the day practicing the song. Landon sang and Emma played it on the little Xylophone. Landon gave the paper to Emma so she would know how to play it. It was very cute!

I thought that I was called for too many tardies and would be spending the day in In School Suspension. Luckily the boy who was there said "This isn't the girl who was with me." I was crying and the Vice Principal felt really bad

False Security and Kindergarten Kaliedascope

Last night I had Stamp Club at my place. I love getting together with the girls and teaching new techniques. Anyway, last night we were set up in the living room because American Idol was on. There was a knock on the door and at the door was a door to door salesman from Titan Alarm Systems. Since I was busy with my stamp club, I had Dave talk to the salesman. They went in the Kitchen to talk. The guy was here for about an hour or longer and Dave signed up to get an Alarm system. When everyone left from my Stamp Club I said to Dave "What have you done?" He asked me if I wanted an Alarm system and I said "no, any extra money we have which isn't much need to go for a car payment to buy a van." He called the guy up and left a message telling him not to cash the check and that we wanted to cancel. The guy called back around 10:00 p.m. He was still in the neighborhood and wanted to come over.

He comes over and for 1/2 hour he tries to convince me to get an Alarm system. Dave told him I was the budgeter in the family. He triest to "Scare" me into getting an alarm system by telling me a bunch of stories of break in's. I kept telling him that we didn't have a lot of extra money and that what extra money we had we needed to have for a car payment. He made a comment about not being able to get a navigation system in the car. I'm thinking you are way off buddy! We can probably only afford a $150 a month car payment. We are not going to be getting a new car and I don't want that amount to drop to $110 because we have an Alarm System! The more he tried to talk me into it the madder I got. I was sitting at one end of the couch and Dave was sitting at the other end and the contract was in the middle of the couch. I was so fed up with this guy that I took the contract and ripped it in half and said "Does this make it any clearer for you." I think he finally got the message. I went into the Kitchen, he gave the check back to Dave and he left. Hallelujah!!! I was shaking and my insides were boiling and it took probably 15 minutes to feel back to normal.

Now onto a happier subject. A week ago they had Kindergarten Kaliedascope at Landon's school. I got to go to his school and they had different centers. Some of them included cutting out pictures and matching them to the correct beggining letter, Coloring food pictures and making a healthy meal, and decorating tree pictures for the different seasons (like with cotton balls for winter). They also had to make different patterns. It was fun to see things that Landon has learned in Kindergarten. Then we got to eat lunch in the cafeteria. Landon got a lunch number that he will have until he graduates from high school and he had to punch that in to get his lunch. For lunch they had corn dogs, smiley face fries, apple, and a rice krispie treat. We both had Chocolate milk to drink. It was pretty fun. Here are a few pictures of the day!

Childhood Summers

Today's T-T-A question is: What do you remember about Childhood Summers? Friends, Vactations, Activities.

The first thing that came to mind was going to visit my grandparents. My mom's parents
(Grandmom and Granddad--my mom's stepdad) lived in Kanab, Utah. They owned a restaurant called "The Territorial Inn." It was a steak and seafood restaurant and it was so good. When we went there we always got to eat at the restaurant. Some of my favorites were steak bites, cheese soup and salad with bleu cheese dressing. We were able to help her out in the restaurant by setting the tables and getting it ready for dinner. We would also get order pads and pretend to take orders. It was a lot of fun. When my Grandmom died of cancer about 18 years ago, my Granddad sold the restaurant. He didn't want to do it anymore because it was there thing that they did together.

My dad's parents lived in Montana in a town called Fortine. It is clear up by the Canadian Border. We used to go there in the summer also. We had a couple of family reunions there. My dad is #6 of 13 children and so it was really fun getting everyone together. While there we would always go into Canada and get some toffee and dill pickle chips. They were so good. My grandpa would also hide quarters in sawdust and all the grandkids would go digging in the sawdust to find the quarters.

During the summer my friends and I would also walk to Circle K and buy candy. We also would have sleep overs and sleep in the front yard in sleeping bags. I also remember walking to 7 Eleven with my family a couple times to buy slurpees. I also played a lot with my friends. We would play Superman, Wonderwoman, Charlies Angels. Another thing we also use to play was Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell sisters. My parents had a rock fireplace and we used the rocks as our weather map. My friend Stephanie was always Irlene. I was Louise and my sister Mindy was Barbara. Or maybe it was the other way around. It was fun. I remember walking to Woodledge Park and playing. Those were the good ole days!

Mom's Day

Todays T-T-A is all about mom's and they gave us a few options. I would like to start mine out by sharing a poem that I found on the internet.

What is a Mother?

A mother has so many things to do.

From washing, ironing, cleaning to tying a shoe.

She scrubs, she mends, she cooks and sews,

She bathes the children and washes their clothes.

When they forget to wash their faces clean,

And their clothes are the muddiest you've ever seen,

Who repairs the clothes and scrubs them like new?

Of course, that is what a mother will do.

Who becomes the doctor or the nurse when they are ill,

Applying a bandage or giving them a pill?

Who becomes a teacher when a child has homework?

I love being a mom! I am so grateful that I am able to stay home with my kids. I am glad that I get to teach them values and how to behave. My kids bring so much joy to my life. I worry about them when they are sick and I wish that I could be sick for them. I hate to see my children in pain. I love to hear them laugh. I love to hear what my son Landon is learning in Kindergarten. I love Emma's willingness to help out with the cleaning. I love to hear Reagan laugh and I love to see all my kid's smile.

I am also grateful for my mom. She is my best friend. I am so glad that I can ask her for advice when I have a problem and she listen's with an open mind and helps me to see things clearly. I am so grateful for all her help. She is there when you need her. She has alway's been a really good example to me. I hope that someday I can be as good of a mom as she is! I love her so much!

7 Years!!!

Today Dave and I celebrated our 7 year anniversary. I can't believe that it has been that long. I am very lucky to have found such a great guy. I am so thankful for everything that he does. He is such a hard worker and makes it possible for me to stay home with the kids. The day started out with us going to The Wood Connection Furniture to look at a hutch for our kitchen that they were holding for us. We are going to be getting some new furniture with our tax relief check that will hopefully be coming soon. Well anyway, we loved the hutch so we put a little money down so they would continue to hold it for us until we get that check. I am so excited to get that furniture. I have wanted new furniture since we got married 7 years ago. Anyway, we decided that the new furniture is going to count as Anniversary, Mother's Day and Father's Day gifts all rolled into one.

We also spent the day working on cleaning our house. We didn't get it quite done and still have a little bit left over to do. Tonight we had our usual Anniversary Dinner at The Olive Garden. We love that restaurant and we only get there a few times a year. My parent's watched our kids and we really enjoyed the time that we were able to spend with just the two of us. It is nice to be able to talk without the kid interruptions.
What a great night! I was glad to be able to spend some time with my guy, the love of my life. I am one very lucky girl. Thanks Dave for 7 great years and here's to a lifetime more!

Hometown Favorites

Today's T-T-A is to tell about your Hometown Favorites.
Favorite place to:

Grab Lunch: I don't have a car during the day but when I did I liked to take my kids to McDonalds or Arctic Circle or Burger King for lunch. I liked it because they have a playland that the kids can play on.
Go for Date Night: Most of the time our date nights consist of ordering out from a restaurant and watching a movie at home after the kids are asleep. But my favorite place to go is The Olive Garden. We only make it there about 2 times a year and one of those is our Anniversary which is coming up this Saturday! So we get to go to The Olive Garden. I am so excited to get my Chicken Parmesan!!
Pick up Some Creative Goodies: My favorite place to get creative goodies is Stampin' Up! It doesn't help that I am a Stampin' Up! demonstrator because it makes it very easy to get online and place an order. I also like to get stuff at Robert's Crafts, Hobby Lobby, and PineNeedles.
Keep the Kids Busy: Once again I do not have a car during the day so my kids will play at the playground just outside our townhouse or they will go to friends houses. I have a list of things I would like to do this summer so hopefully we will get another car soon!
Get Wet: Down the street from where I live they have a little splash park. That is a lot of fun. We have also been to the Kearns Oquirrh Park Swimming Pool. That is a lot of fun because they have play equipment and a lot of other fun stuff!
Buy a Treat: One of my favorite places that I don't get to often is Rocky Mountain Candy Company. They are opening one closer to where I live. I love the different caramel apples that they have. They are so Yummy!! I also recently tried the new Frosty Shakers at Wendy's and they are very good!
Shop for Fun: I don't get there very often but I love to shop at the outlet stores in Park City. I also like to go to all the little stores at Gardner Village!
Get some Fresh air: I love to get to the mountains. I am excited for the warmer weather so I can go hiking with my husband and kids.
Splurge: I think that would also have to be Stampin' Up! and any other Scrapbook or craft store!
Drive for a weekend away: It is usually only a Friday night get away, but we love to drive to Heber and eat dinner at Dairy Keen. It is so good. We go there about once every 2 or 3 months. Next time we go will probably be Memorial Day Weekend and see Thomas the Train. We can't afford to ride the train but the kids love to go and see it!

A Special Request

I had a request to tell the story of me getting hit by a car on my mission, so here it goes! At the time I was serving in Lexington, Kentucky which happened to be the only bike area for Sister Missionaries. My companion and I had gone to the University of Kentucky to meet with an appointment. We got there and waited for about 1/2 hour and our appointment never showed up so we went home. As we were riding our bikes home I was following my companion. She crossed in front of a parking lot and I followed her. A guy who was stopped at a stop sign and apparently didn't know that missionaries came in pairs started to go as I was crossing and I got hit. The funny thing is that this happened about a block away from the University of Kentucky hospital and I got on a campus bus to go there. The doctor who examined my injuries was a exchange student from Germany and reminded me of the doctor that Robin Williams plays in the movie 9 months. It was very hard to understand him. Anyway I ended up with a sprained ankle and some bruises and a welt on my arm. Another funny thing about this is that it happened during Zone Conference week and our Zone was the last zone to have their conference. I went to Zone Conference with my crutches and my air cast. The safety training that the car czar (as we called him) had been doing all week was on none other than bicycle safety. I had people in my district and some members sign my crutches and I still have them. It was an experience I will always remember!

Recipe Tag, I was tagged, and Life in General

I came across this on another blog and I thought it looked like a lot of fun. I really want to get everyone to participate because the more people that participate the more recipes that we will end up with. So what you do is post 2 recipes. I found 2 recipes, one that I have made and one that I want to try. The first one is "Super Simple Egg Foo Young." I made this for my family a couple of weeks ago and it was really good. My family liked it also. The second recipe is "Cinnamon Crisp-Topped Cream Cheese Banana Bread." I have not tried this recipe but it looks good and I want to try it. So here are the recipes!

Super Simple Egg Foo Young

1 Pkg Rice-A-Roni "Fried Rice"
6 eggs
1 T. Soy Sauce
1/2 t. Salt
dash of pepper
1 (16 oz) can bean sprouts, drained
1/4 C. sliced green onion

Prepare Rice-A-Roni according to package directions. Beat eggs with Soy Sauce, salt and pepper. Stir in cooked Rice-A-Roni, sprouts and onion. Drop mixture by 1/2 cupfuls onto greased pan or griddle. Brown on each side.

To make sauce, combine in pan
2 T. cornstarch
2T. Soy Sauce
2 cups of water

Cook until thick. Serve over Egg Foo Young.

Cinnamon Crisp-Topped Cream Cheese Banana Bread

3/4 C. butter softened
1(8 oz.) pkg cream cheese, softened
2 C. sugar
2 large eggs
3 cups All-Purpose flour
1/2 t. each baking powder, baking soda, and salt
1 1/2 cups mashed potatoes
1 C. chopped pecans, toasted
1/2 t. vanilla extract

Topping
1/2 C. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 C. chopped, toasted pecans
1 T. All-Purpose flour
1 T. melted butter
1/8 t. ground cinnamon

Preperation
Beat butter and cream cheese at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy. Gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; gradually add to butter mixture, beating at low speed until blended. Stir in bananas, pecans, vanilla, and mashed potatoes. Pour into 2 greased and floured 8x4 inch loaf pans. Sprinkle with combined topping.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until a wooden toothpick inserted in center comes our clean and sides pull away from the pan shielding with aluminum foil last 15 minutes to prevent browing if necessary. Cool bread in pans on wire rack for 10 minutes. Remove from pans and cool 30 minutes on wire racks before slicing.

10 years ago I was working at a gas station, attending school at UVSC, being set up on blind dates and wondering if I would ever meet "Mr. Right"

Five Places I have visited:
1. Kentucky--I don't know if this counts because it was more than a visit. I served a mission there. I also served in Indiana and Ohio. I was there for 18 months.
2. Texas--Our family (my mom and dad, brothers and sisters) went there the summer after my 8th or 9th grade year to visit relatives on my mom's side.
3. Mexico--We stopped by when we went to Texas
4. Canada--We always went here when we went to Montana. We would just go across the border. It was a lot of fun. I love their toffee and their dill pickle potato chips.
5. California--I have been here twice. Once to visit one of my missionary companions and once after Jake got home from his mission. I went to Disneyland both times and had a blast!

Five things on my TO DO LIST:
1. Take Emma and Reagan to the Doctor
2. Finish Reading my book for Book Club
3. Make flower pens for my Scentsy Open House at Jamies
4. Clean my house
5. Get uninterrupted sleep tonight!

Three bad habits:
1. My Caffiene habit--something that may be hard to kick when I am pregnant with #4. I love my Diet Coke with Lime.
2. Staying in my Pajamas, sometimes all day long
3. Spending too much time on the computer

Five things you may not know about me:
1. I can't sleep without my body pillow
2. I love carmex but I only wear it at night right before going to bed
3. I was hit by a car on my mission.
4. I love to read, make cards, and do other crafts
5. I love to host parties and try to get free stuff!

Ok. So now on to life in general. Right now I am surprised that I am not falling asleep at this computer as I type. I have not had a night of uninterrupted sleep now for 2 nights in a row. Emma has been complaining of her ear hurting. Tuesday night I kept hearing her. She came into my room at 5:00 a.m. and I put her back in bed. Emma and Reagan both slept until 10:45 yesterday morning. Emma ate breakfast and then she fell asleep on the living room couch at 11:30 and slept on and off all day long. Then last night she came into my room every hour starting at 1:30 a.m. I did not get much sleep last night and feel very tired today. When I went to take her back to bed Reagan was awake and she had thrown up. I got her changed and Dave took care of the bedding. I tried to call the on call doctor at 2:00 a.m. and I waited up until 2:30 for him to call me back. No call, so I went back to bed. Of course Emma wasn't done coming into my room every hour. Anyway I am taking them both to the doctor today at 2:00. Hopefully I will get better sleep tonight. Uninterrupted would be nice. I hope Emma is feeling better by tomarrow because she is supposed to get her pictures taken at Kiddie Kandids. Maybe, I'll even get a nap in today!

Todays T-T-A question is:

What makes you Laugh?

The first thing that came to mind was my kids. They say some of the funniest things. For example last Friday our family went to my parents house and as we were leaving my cousin Davey and his wife Mary stopped by. We talked to them for a little bit and then we left. As we were driving away Emma said "Why does Mindy look different?" I guess she thought that Mary was my sister Mindy. Dave and I had a pretty good laugh over that one. Another funny thing that happened recently is this. Last Saturday was a very busy day. So busy in fact that Reagan was in her pajamas all day long. At one point she had just woken up for a nap and I believe it was around 5:00 p.m. I said to her "Reagan have you been in your pajamas all day long?" To which she matter of factly replied "Yep." It was as clear as a bell. I just had to laugh. Then I asked her, "Should we just keep you in your pajamas at this point?" To which she again responded "Yep." Later that night we were eating dinner and I asked Reagan if she liked staying in her pajamas all day. I was trying to get her to say yes by shaking my head yes and Dave was trying to get her to say no by shaking his head no. This went on for about 10 minutes and Dave won. Reagan eventually shook her head no and seemed to have fun doing it.

The other thing that makes me laugh is Brian Regan. If I need a good laugh I put in one of my 2 Brian Regan DVD's and laugh out loud the whole time. I think that he is a funny comedian and he is very clean. That is a hard combo to find these days. Anyway, I am still trying to figure out the Youtube clip to get it on my actual post, but I do have a clip on there. So watch it after you read this and get a good laugh for the day.

Anyway those are just a few things that make me laugh.

Make Chores More Fun

Today an article on MSN caught my eye. It was entitled "How to make chores more fun for kids." My first thought was "I need to read this because all my kids do is complain and say I don't like to clean." Anything to make chores more fun is worth reading. The article listed 9 ways to Make Chores More Fun. They look like really good ideas and I am excited to try some of these ideas in my own home. Anyway here they are:

Hide treats, stickers, or pennies in, on or under knickknacks, then ask your child to dust. She gets the reward only when everything is dusted.
Post individual lists of chores kids can do (one for each child in your family). Whenever your child accomplishes a task, have her mark it with a sticker. Whoever has the most stickers at the end of the week gets the "Helper of the Week" award.
Play "Go Fish" with a basket of clean socks. Divide the socks among the players, leaving a pile to draw from. Each player, in turn, holds up a sock and asks another if he has the mate. If not, the asking player must take a sock from the top of the draw pile. When finished, the player with the most pairs wins.
Turn any socks that stay single into child-friendly dust mitts. Insert childs hand in dampened sock and use to remove dust from houseplants and furniture.
Have a scavenger hunt. Make a list of everyday items (newspapers, magazines, shoes, etc). Set a timer for 5 minutes, then have kids collect stray items throughout the house. The winner is the child who picks up the most (and returns to their rightful spots).
After dinner, do a "10-minute Tidy." Set a timer and have the family members scatter through the house putting away the clutter.
Appoint someone to be Inpector D. Clutter. Armed with a laundry basket and plastic police badge from the dress-up box, this person roams the house and puts stray belongings into clutter "jail" (the basket). To set an item free, its owner (Mom and Dad included) must do a chore.
Turn a bucket into a personalized cleaning caddy. Use permanent marker to write your childs name on it and have him decorate it with other drawings. Store supplies such as sponges, dustrag, and a roll of paper towels, etc.
Show them the money? Some experts believe allowance should be reserved for teenagers. School-aged children will easily get behind the idea that chores are something you do as a member of the family--not for money. They'll be excited just to show off their skill at completing a task.

T-T-A Tuesday Tell All

I recently discovered a blog thanks to Monica's sister Erica called Tuesday Tell All. Every Friday they post a question and then on Tuesday you post your answer to that question. You can be put on their list also. Anyway today's question is:
For what activity would you want professional lessons?
I couldn't just think of one thing I though of three. The first one is because I am a big fan of "Dancing with the Stars" although this season I haven't seen a whole lot of it. I would love to learn how to ballroom dance. I really think it would be fun to take lessons from a professional and learn that form of dancing.

The second activity I would like professional lessons for would be country dancing. I do know some line dances and I kind of know the swing but I would love to take lessons so that I could be better. I love country dancing. I think it is so much fun.

The last thing I would love professional lessons for I don't know if it is really considered an activity but thought I would put it in anyway. That is learning to play the harp. I love the harp and I love it when I hear it being played. I think that it is very beautiful. One of my dreams for the last several years is to learn how to play the harp. Maybe one of these days I'll be able to afford one and then I can start taking lessons.

Anyway that's it. I will be doing this every week so watch for the new posts on Tuesday and I will post other things on other days!

Health Updates

Yesterday Emma had her 4 year doctor appointment and Reagan had her 18 month appointment. Emma had to get 4 shots and Reagan had to get 1. Emma tried to be brave because as she said "I am 4 years old so shots don't hurt me anymore." Dave held her on his lap while she got 2 shots in each arm. He covered her eyes so she couldn't watch the needles going in. However, she still did cry but only for a minute or so. Then she was able to get a prize and a sticker. I held Reagan while she got her one shot and she cried a lot longer than Emma. However, Emma complained of her arms hurting for a couple hours after and Reagan seemed to recover quickly. The doctor recommended that we have Emma see a Speech Pathologist and call the Elementary School to set up an appointment. They also said they could recommend a preschool, possibly one that would help her with her speech before she starts Kindergarten. Anyway here are their stats:

Height: 39 1/2 inches (50%)

Height: 31 inches (50%)

Weight: 20 lb. 2 oz. (5%)

Head is in the 95% range. I don't know exact measurement because the papers are in the car.

The exciting thing is that now Reagan can sit in a forward facing carseat. We need to go and buy one this weekend. I think it's about time. Here is a cute picture of my 2 girls.

Emma's Princess Birthday Party

A few weeks ago when I asked Emma what kind of party she wanted for her birthday this year, she responded by saying "A Princess Party." I went to work looking on the internet and getting ideas to do for her Princess party. I wanted to make my own invitations and I found a really cute stamp on a website here. It wasn't scheduled to arrive until March 31st. Anyway then about a week ago I found another stamp set on a different website here. I took my chances and ordered it. Luckily it came by postal service and not UPS and I got it in the mail last Saturday and worked hard to get the invitations done by Sunday. I was up until 2:00 in the morning on Sunday working on them so I could get them passed out. Dave helped me out by cutting. Despite some problems printing the inside we got them done in time to pass out. Here is the outside of the invitation:

On April 2nd, Emma's 4th birthday we took her to Cookie Cutters to get her hair done in a updo. I didn't have anything in mind for Emma's hair. We just said that she wanted to look like Cinderella. I think that the stylist did a really good job. Here is a picture of her in the process of getting her hair done and the finished product.

The party was held at my parents house. We bought some red plastic at the party store and had it leading up to the doors as the red carpet. At her party we started out by having the kids do a craft. I had cut out some crowns and the kids were able to decorate them with stickers. They were also given a coloring page of a castle and a princess to color. The kids had a lot of fun making the crowns and coloring.

Of course we had to get a picture of all of the kids wearing their finished crowns.

When the kids were finished with their craft and coloring, it was time to eat dinner. Dinner consisted of Chicken Croissant Sandwiches, chips, fruit salad, meatballs, and a spinach dip that was put into a bread bowl that was made to look like a carriage pulled by horses.

After dinner the kids played a game of Pin the kiss on the Frog Prince. Then Emma opened her presents. She opened them so fast and then threw what she opened she threw aside. She threw aside everything she opened but thisShe is pretty excited to go to Toys R Us to buy something with her $10. I guess she is a true girl and loves to shop.

For dessert we had Sherbet that was made by mixing Pineapple Sherbet with raspberries and bananas. We put the sherbet in a cup that was made by lining foil cupcake liners with melted white chocolate chips. We also had Rice Krispies cut into heart or star shapes.

All the kids were sent home with party favors. The girls had things like princess stickers, a mirror, a ring, bubbles, notebook and pencil, barbie fruit snacks, and some other things. The boys had Shrek stickers, Shrek ring pop, bubbles, Nemo fruit snacks, bubbles and other things. The kids really enjoyed the party favors.

A Night of Family Fun

Tonight we had a ward activity. It was one of those activities where both the Primary and the Activities committee needed to do an activity and they decided to pool their resources and money and combine for one fun activity. For the activity they had a Spring Carnival. They set up different booths in the Cultural Hall and they kids got to go from booth to booth and play the games and win prizes. Some of the activities they had were face painting, a fishing game, pin the nose on the clown, Twister, frosting sugar cookies, bowling, a tossing game, musical something or other, and a playstation with the dancing game (I don't know what it is called). Dave and I were in charge of the Pin the nose on the Clown game. Landon and Emma just went from game to game and had a lot of fun. They even went to some games multiple times. They really liked the Pin the nose on the clown game. It was funny watching them play the dancing game at the Playstation. I didn't take any pictures of the booths or Landon and Emma playing the games but I did get some pictures of them afterwards with their faces painted. Emma had a heart on one cheek and I couldn't tell what Landon had.

An Exciting thing that happened is that Reagan is finally getting the hang of walking. She walked from one end of the Cultural Hall to the other end and only fell a few times. It is fun to watch her finally walk. After the Ward Party we went to Arctic Circle and ate some dinner. While we were eating dinner an employee came by and asked if we wanted courtesy cones, so we got some for the kids. I was holding Reagan's and she was eating it and finally took it out of my hand and held it herself. The first thing she did was bite the bottom of the cone. I had to take some pictures so Dave went out to the car to get my camera. Reagan started to say "Cheese" when I got my camera out to take her picture. It was really cute. I tried to get video of that but I was trying to figure it out for the first time and didn't get it in time. However, here is here picture.

When we got home I took the picture of Landon and Emma. When I was done Reagan decided that she wanted her picture taken also and she backed herself up against the door so I could do just that. It was very cute. Of course, I took her picture.

The night ended with Dave and I currently watching "Enchanted." It is a very cute and funny movie. All in All it was a very fun night!!!

Scentsy

I usually wouldn't do this but I had to tell you about a great new product and company. I recently became a Scentsy consultant. Scentsy is a wickless candle and so you don't have to worry about the fire danger of regular candles. Instead you buy a cute little warmer that uses a 25 watt lightbulb. They have a lot of different warmers to choose from and they are so cute. Here is an example of one.In the warmer you put a Scentsy bar. They have over 80 different scents to choose from like Juicy Peach, Coconut and Lemongrass, Tahiti Pear, Fried Ice Cream and many others. The bars come in 6 segments so you just break off a couple segments and put them in your warmer and the lightbulb melts them. When the scent runs out you just throw the melted wax in a baggie or directly into your garbage can and throw it away. Then you can replace your scent. If your scent hasn't run out and you just want to change it, you can pour the wax back in the container it came in and reuse it again later. Card Technique for March

This month for my card technique I decided to do a Big Buckle card. Once again I found this technique on Split Coast Stampers. I made this card yesterday and it was a lot of fun.
So this is what you do:
1. Take a piece of cardstock that measures 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 and score down the midde at 4 1/4
2. Cut off about 1" of cardstock from the front
3. Cut a piece of cardstock at 4 by 5 1/4 for the inside of the card.
4. Cut a piece of cardstock at 1 5/8 by 5 1/2 and score at about 4 1/4. This is the buckle. You can then decorate it how you want. Use the corner rounder punch to round the corners on the longer strip.
5. Use your word window punch to punch a hole in the bottom for your buckle to go into.
6. Tuck in smaller end of buckle in under the inside cardstock and slip through word window slot.
7. Use whatever stamps you have to decorate your own buckle card.
This card was so much fun to make, I will probably make more. I will also be showing how to make them at a future Stamp Club.

Our Little Getaway

Every few month our family likes to drive to Heber and go to a restaurant called Dairy Keen. It is a lot of fun to get away from the city every once and awhile. When we go to Heber even for a couple hours it feels like a little mini vacation. Our kids love it too. One of the highlights of the restaurant is a train track with a train that goes up above near the ceiling. All we have to do is tell our kids that we are going to the restaurant with the train and they get really excited. Last night Reagan got a kick of the train. Every time it came around she would point to it and get all excited and start blabbering and smiling. I really wish that I had taken my camera because it would have made a good video. Next time we go I will be sure to take it. Reagan's excitedness even attracted the attention of all the people around us. It was worth the trip to Heber just to see that. Dairy Keen does have good food also.

It's The Card! and Book Tag

A Few Random Thoughts

First of all I have some exciting news! Yesterday I won my first item on ebay. I have bought items before on ebay but I have never bid on anything. I found a Stampin' Up! background stamp that I really like and it is retired. Well I found it on ebay and a couple of days ago I placed a bid on it. I was the only bidder until I woke up Friday morning and found I had been outbid. I put in another bid and another and I was outbid every time. Well then I found another one that ended before the one I was bidding on. I bid on it and for a little bit I was the high bidder then someone outbid me. Well I waited until about 3 minutes before the bidding ended and put in another bid. I kept clicking refresh and stayed the high bidder until the end and I won. I was so excited!!! I can't wait to get it and make a really cute card with it. This is what the stamp looks like. It is called Dots and Daises.

The second thing is that yesterday I was picking up some things and I found the Valentine card I gave to Dave last year. I read it then I found the one I gave him this year and read it. I was and was amazed at the similarities. Last year and this year I started out by saying "Happy Valentines Day!" Last Year I wrote "I love you so much" and this year I wrote "I just wanted to let you know how much I love you." Last Year I wrote "You are a wonderful husband and father." This year I wrote "You are a great husband and father." Last year I wrote "I really appreciate all you do." This year I wrote "I am thankful for everything you do to provide for our family." Last year I wrote "I'm glad that you are my husband and that I am married to you." This year I wrote "I am so glad that I am your wife." Last year I wrote I love you and couldn't ask for anyone better and this year I wrote I could not ask for more. Anyway, I did not look at last years card at all when I wrote inside this years card. I am amazed at how similar they are. Here is the proof.

If you read my previous post you will recall that Landon had a tooth pulled at the dentist. He came home from the dentist and put his tooth under his pillow for the tooth fairy. Friday morning I woke up and realized that the tooth fairy forgot to come. Dave had this realization too. I asked Landon about it and told him that sometimes the tooth fairy forgets and that maybe she will remember to come tonight. Well this morning I woke up about 5:30 with the realization that once again the tooth fairy forgot. I woke Dave up and said "Tooth fairy." Dave hopped out of bed and took care of it. When Landon woke up I asked him how much he got from the tooth fairy and he said $1.00! Boy has the price of teeth gone up. I think that I got a dime or something for my teeth. He was pretty excited. Now we will have to take him to the dollar section of Target so he can get something with it. We will try to be a better tooth fairy with the next ones.

The last thing is that I played the Wii at my parents house tonight. I did bowling and I broke my record. I got 3 strikes in a row and probably a total of 4 strikes and about 3 spares. My final score was 197. I love the Wii. Now if I could just do that well at regular bowling!

Landon's new look!

About a month or so ago I noticed that Landon had a slightly brown tooth. He was past due for a dentist appointment so I called and scheduled an appointment. We went to a new dentist because the dentist we went to before is too far away now that we have moved. I found a closer dentist and scheduled an appointment. A couple weeks ago we took them to the dentist. Emma who has freaked out before with the dentist did extremely well. We asked the Dentist about Landon's brown tooth. He checked it out and it turned out to be infected. The dentist told us the tooth would have to be pulled. This morning he had his dentist appointment to get his tooth pulled. Dave took the day off work and took Landon to the dentist and I stayed home with Emma and Reagan. I took some pictures this morning so I would have the before and after. However, the camera was being really weird this morning and took some pretty scary pictures. Landon literally looked like a zombie. It was freaky. So the before picture is not from today. I did get a good after picture. When Landon got home from the dentist he was still recovering from the drugs. He couldn't eat breakfast for an hour and he had to keep his head up. If he wanted to lay down he had to lay down flat so he wouldn't choke. When the drugs started to wear off he got a little emotional saying "I want my tooth back" and started crying. It was very sad but I told him that it would be ok. He calmed down. Now Landon has a new look and will have this look for the next couple years. I'm sure he will get used to it.
