The Greatest Love Story Ever Told

As everyone knows yesterday was Valentines Day. For the special day I made Dave a scrapbook called "The Greatest Love Story Ever Told." It was made from a kit that I ordered from Creating Keepsakes at the beginning of January. It was a big project but I really enjoyed doing it. I also added some of my own stuff from Stampin' Up! They now offer rub-ons and they are so cute. Anyway here are some pictures of the completed project.

I saw this on Erica's blog and since today is Valentines day I thought it would be a cool thing to do.

How long have you been together? We have been married for almost 7 years
How long did you date? We dated for 3 months and then were engaged for 3 months
Who eats more? Definately Dave. He can come home from work and eat a sandwich 1/2 hour before dinner is ready
Who said I love you first? I have no idea on this
Who is taller? Dave by at least 5 or 6 inches
Who has more speeding tickets? Probably me. I don't know if Dave has any
Who is more sensitive? Definately me. Sometimes I cry at the stupidest things, like commercials on TV
When there is a fight, who usually wins? I do. He usually comes to the same conclusion after talking to his dad
Who does the laundry? We both do. We have big laundry folding parties
Who does the dishes? Dave. We have a deal that I cook and he does the dishes
Who sleeps on the right? Dave
Who pays the bills? We both do
Who mows the lawn? The HOA
Who cooks dinner? I do
Who drives when you are together? Dave--although he wishes I would drive more
Who is more stubborn? Me. C'mon I'm German. Enough said
Who kissed whom first? Dave kissed me
Who asked out who first? I did twice. I asked Dave to my company Christmas party. About 2 weeks before the party I got hockey tickets at work and asked him to the hockey game. By the party 2 weeks later we had been on 5 dates.
Who proposed? Dave twice. Once unofficially and once officially
Who has more siblings? Dave. He has 2 biological sisters, 5 biological brother and another brother and sister in his adopted family. I have 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

The Best Laid Plans...

This week is Family week at Landon's school. Each day they have different activities. Some of them are at night, others while they are in school. Last night they had family skate night at Classic Skating Center. We thought it would be fun to take Landon and Emma. They keep saying that they want to go skating. Emma even wanted a pair of roller skates for Christmas last year but Santa thought she was too young so he didn't bring her any. We dropped Reagan off at my mom's house so Dave and I could help out Landon and Emma. I rented roller blades for myself and Dave, Landon, and Emma got skates. I made it around the track once and Landon and Emma couldn't even walk in their skates. We decided to bag the roller skating and go bowling instead. Before going to the bowling alley we took Landon and Emma to Burger King for dinner. While we were waiting for the food we let Landon and Emma play on the playground. Then we ate. Landon and Emma love eating at a restaurant or even going through a drive through. Sometimes I don't know what they like more, my cooking or fast food. They did have fun at Burger King though. Personally I think they have the best french fries!

Then we went to the bowling alley. They told us that it would be a 10 minute wait. Dave and I played a couple games of air hockey. Dave won the first game and I won the second game. When they called our name we went to pay and get our shoes. They told us the price was $29.00. We couldn't afford that so we didn't get to go bowling after all. I think we will start job charts and use that as a reward after 2 months of doing their chores. Is it just me or does anyone else think the bowling shoe rental should be included in the bowling price and not seperate?

We went and picked up Reagan from my mom's house and then we were going to get ice cream from Arctic Circle and let the kids play there, but it was already getting late and Dave had to go to Mindy and Marty's to do some electrical work. Landon and Emma were a little disappointed but we just went home and gave them ice cream and then they took showers and got ready for bed. Oh well! They do say "The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry." Maybe we will have better luck next time.

Blog Correction

In my last blog I had some of my facts wrong. This is the correct version. Hans Koerfgen flew Elder Uchtdorf across Nigeria 2 1/2 hours each way every day. The Nigerian government bought a fleet of alfa jets, 228 and 328 from Germany. Uchtdorf was responsible for training the Nigerian Air Force on how to fly the fighter jets. Koerfgen was Uchtdorf's personal pilot. He flew a high performance twin turbo prop 21 seat plane. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Hope this makes more sense.

Our Busy Saturday

Yesterday was a busy day! Dave took the day off work for his part-time job so we could get some things done. He got the car inspected and registered. We were a few days late, but we usually are. We also got some cleaning done, although not as much as we would have liked. Our stake is having a DI drive on Tuesday and I still need to clean out my closet and decide what to donate.

Also yesterday we were invited to Dave's grandma's apartment for dinner. She recently got remarried and her name is Grandma Koerfgen. Her husband Hans is a convert to the church and years ago he was a pilot. Hans would fly from Germany to Africa every single day to fly his passenger to work. Then he would fly him back to Germany. A 10 hour flight each way. Who was this passenger? It was Dieter F. Uchtdorf. Hans of course was not a member of the church at the time and Elder Uchtdorf was. They had many conversations about the church on these long flights. However it wasn't until years later that Hans was baptized. When Grandma and Hans were sealed in the Temple a few months ago, Elder Uchtdorf was the one who sealed them. We sure had a fun visit with them. It is really fascinating to hear all of the stories from Hans.

While we were there Grandma Koerfgen gave Landon and Emma crayons, coloring books, sticker books, and paper to color and draw with. They both had a lot of fun coloring and playing with the sticker books. Landon drew a picture and showed it to Grandma Koerfgen and she said to him "You are going to be a very good artist someday" to which Landon responded "I already am." I realized about halfway through dinner that I should have brought my camera. I didn't get any pictures of them, but here is a picture of Landon's drawing from last night.

Last time I went grocery shopping I bought these Little Debbbie Valentines cakes. Yesterday afternoon for a little snack I gave each of the kids one. Reagan sure had fun with hers. I think she was reliving her first birthday. Here is a picture I took of that.

Also Yesterday at Grandma Koerfgen's we had those Lofthouse Sugar cookies. I gave one to Reagan and she had fun eating that. She got frosting on her thumb and was trying to shake it off. I told her to just lick it off so she stuck her thumb in her mouth and kept it there for a few minutes then took it out and the frosting was off her thumb.

When we got back last night I put the kids down for bed and Dave went to Coldstone to get us some ice cream. When he got back we watched the movie "The Nanny Diaries." I read this book a couple of years ago for book club and thought it was pretty good. The movie I thought was also pretty good. I really enjoyed it. It was also nice to relax after a busy day!

SNOWED IN

This morning we woke up to a phone call telling us that church was being cancelled for the day due to the snow. I had no idea it was even snowing until Dave told me to go look out the window. I did and boy was the snow coming down. It was coming horizontally and coming down hard. Like we didn't have enough snow before. Then I read on the internet that Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow yesterday, so now we have 6 more weeks of winter. Thanks a lot Phil, you let me down this year!

In order to get a little bit of religion in today Dave and I watched the funeral of President Hinckley. We were unable to watch it yesterday because we had a baptism to go to, so we set the DVR to record it and thanks to modern technology we were able to watch it today! I love the DVR! After Dave went outside to shovel our driveway so that we could get out later to go to my parents house for dinner. I decided it was a great time to go out and take pictures and put them on my blog. So here are pictures of our snowy day!
